Her father is the richest man in Indonesia, even richer than the Dutch government at that time. Her mother can not give boys descent, so her father had many concubines. Hui Lan has an older sister who was beautiful, smart and feminine named Oei Tjong Lan. Hui Lan later married Wellington, powerful politicians and foreign minister of China.
